Portraits
For a recent portrait assignment, I met up with my partner, Tim, for an after-work beer at The Good Hop in Oakland. Going into it, I wanted to do my best to capture the emotions, feelings and expressions that occur at the end of a work day. However, I quickly realized that most people go through more than one emotion as they decompress from a long day- so it was very interesting to look back on our conversation visually and see how, depending on what we were discussing, the story that the photos told varied.
This first image, for example, captured a really somber, almost heart-breaking conversation about Tim’s disappointment in the Oakland A’s. Tim has been a lifelong A’s fan, and has generally been in support of the new proposed Coliseum Complex at the Port of Oakland — but with their latest announcement to not include affordable housing units in the complex, his loyalty to the A’s is waning for the first time.
